Becoming an Author: Who, What, When, Where, Why?

Today, on this first blog, I will start with the WHO?

Author name is Angie Galler Bowen. 👩🏼

I am a woman with many roles over the years!  I’m thankful for all my roles. Each taught me a lot, about myself, and about the world around me.

I will discuss the roles in further depth as I post further blogs. Each role in our lives prepare us for each of our callings. We have more than one!

Dwayne Dyer talks about that in his last book “I Can See Clearly Now” It is so true.

Before becoming an author:

My last role(S) were cut off or modified dramatically (my husband died; my grandchildren and step-grandchildren grew up and my daughter no longer needed me living so close) so I chose to move to Knoxville, Tennessee, closer to my sisters and take advantage of the opportunity to fulfill my long-time dream. The three of us are very close.

I received my master’s degree and clinical social work at the University of Tennessee Knoxville. Majoring in Psychology and Social Work gave me the opportunity to teach Psychology and Social Work at a college level!

It was difficult for me to scale down and eventually terminate my thriving private practice. I will talk more about that in a subsequent *why* blog.

Needless to say, when life happens, it’s important to adapt. We must adapt!  And that is exactly what I did.

I was fortunate in that while I was learning how to adapt to the often scary changes taking place in my life, God was already planting a seed within me, one that would one day blossom into my writing career!

Being an active caregiver and involved mom and nana, living with my now deceased husband in a large beautiful log cabin by the lake, we thought we were “settled.”

Then we weren’t.  Then we moved to Florida and got a small place in NC as well. There were challenging reasons for buying two smaller homes in two locations versus one large home in one location.  We thought we were settled once again. Then we weren’t. All this is covered in the *why* blog. Each blog will give you deeper insights into the writing of my novels.  So stay tuned 😉 and thank you, my loyal readers, for reading these novels, and for providing excellent feedback. For those of you, who aren’t aware, my email is in the back of every novel that I write. I welcome your comments always.

Next blog? *What?* An Author ✍️
